A friend of mine who now lives in J A (Jamaica, that is) sent me an interesting YouTube clip of Chimamanda Adichie 'The danger of a single story' and her growth as an African writer. Going to see and hear her talk about her new book, 'Americanah', was inspirational, thought provoking and a real treat. I was particularly impressed with her views on Black women and hair - something also dear to my heart. It was well worth the trip across the river and on a weekday too!
